Glossier First Thoughts & What I Bought

If you haven't heard of Glossier, I have to wonder how you're reading this because you obviously don't have an internet connection! Just teasing, of course, but you'd be hard pressed not to see this brand name all over your social media feeds.

Glossier was founded by the bad-ass team of beauty editors at Into The Gloss.  Having tried just about every product on the market, they learned what truly worked and decided to make a line of beauty and skincare products for real women everywhere.
I love that they put skin first, which resonates with me because for so long I hated the way I looked without makeup. To have a brand embrace and celebrate natural beauty is so damn refreshing!
Plus you get a super cute reusable ziplock pouch and stickers with every order. This company hits the mark for me in SO many ways.

I've been waiting for Glossier to ship to Canada since they launched in 2010, yet I couldn't for the life of me decide what I wanted to pickup first!
I thought I'd share with you my first impressions of what I bought first from Glossier, and help you determine if the hype truly is real.

It was so hard to decide which of the 5 flavours to choose from, but I ended up with the Birthday flavour because my sweet tooth took over. It  honestly reminds me of an old Lipsmackers flavour I used to own back in the day, so the nostalgia alone won me over. Bare in mind it is a pretty strong scent, so here's hoping you like vanilla cupcakes as much as I do!

The consistency is thick, but glides on like buttah'. It's not waxy or greasy, just lightweight and full of yummy moisturizing ingredients. The Birthday flavour is clear and gives a very natural dewy look to my pout.
Even though this is intended to be a multi-purpose salve, I'm hesitant to use this flavour anywhere else besides my face, given that it has tiny micro-particles of glitter. I do plan on picking up one of the other flavours to try this on my cuticles, dry patches and even my wrists to enhance the longevity of my perfumes!

This was the very first item I added to my cart. I had to have it immediately after hearing about it's cult status among beauty bloggers.

As soon as I tried this, I ditched my regular double-cleansing routine out the window. This took off ALL of my makeup! Every. Last. Trace. I was actually shocked, given how much my lashes like to hold onto mascara. My skin felt clean, but not stripped of moisture thanks to the rose water . After 2 weeks of regular use I noticed it looks plumper, brighter and more even in tone!

Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Colour - $22 CAD each (also available in a duo for the same price!)

After picking up the first two products and seeing that almost everyone else grabbed the Cloud Paints, I put in another order. I had to see what all the fuss was about.
I've used cream blush in the past and wasn't a fan; they either went on streaky or didn't blend out very well.
These have a very creamy consistency that makes them melt onto the skin and blend out beautifully to a natural flush. They are very pigmented though, so you only need a little teensy bit!

Puff is a super feminine baby pink shade, and Dusk is a peachy brown. I find Dusk to be a bit too dark as a blush shade, so I've been using it mostly as a bronzer/contour shade. I quite like how it warms up my face. Puff is the most perfect blush for me, it gives my cheeks this cute, just-pinched flush! I love wearing it both under and on top of foundation, depending on how intense I want my blush to be.

Lise Watier CC Creme in 'Light Neutral'
Glossier Cloud Paint in 'Dusk' as a contour and 'Puff' on the cheeks
Glossier Birthday Balm Dotcom on lips, lids and cheekbones
Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in '2'
L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer in '01 - Classic Ivory'
L'Oreal Voluminous Feline Noir Mascara

I can honestly say I plan on owning the entire Glossier range, given how well these products worked for me. But... also because I so desperately want to embody that millennial pink, minimalist, 'cool girl' lifestyle that they have become synonymous with.
The hype is real, folks!

If you haven't tried Glossier yet, you absolutely should!
